Treatments (Facial and skin)

Offering useful and modern selection of treatments for facial and skin Rejuvenation.

The treatment

Celluma is an award-winning medical low-light therapy device (LED), approved by Health Canada for managing various skin conditions and pain. Celluma helps cells restore energy and regain vitality. Its deeply penetrating powerful wavelengths result in increased micro-circulation, tissue repair and a reduction in pain and inflammation. It can safely treat skin conditions such as acne and wrinkles.

Treatments to combine with Celluma

  • Microneedling, to improve recovery and maximize the treatment results.
  • Chemical peels, to improve and brighten the skin.
  • Dermaplaning, to remove the dead skin cells and promote a healthier glow.
  • Divine facelift, a Celluma treatment immediately after Tri Fractional and Voluderm resurfacing can enhance recovery and decrease redness.
  • Cosmeceuticals (medical grade skincare), to enhance and maintain results.

What to expect

The skin is cleansed before treatment. You lie under a bright red light, which becomes relaxing once you get used to it and a relaxing neck and shoulder massage accompanies the treatment. The treatment is painless. Moisturizer and sunscreen are applied after treatment.

Is Celluma Light therapy safe?

Treatment is safe and effective for all skin types and colors.

Treatment time

50 minutes. Best results are achieved with a course of Celluma treatments and follow up maintenance treatments as required.

Down time

None.

Results

Skin is healthier and refreshed, with a lovely glow. Stimulation of collagen-producing cells strengthens the foundation of the skin. For long-lasting results and optimal skin benefits, a course of 6-12 treatments is recommended over 3-6 weeks. The results can be maintained by a single booster treatment every 4-6 weeks.

The treatment

A specialized chemical solution is applied to the skin, to remove the top layer. New, smoother skin will grow back. You may need to follow up with a light or medium peel to reach your desired effect. Afsa MedSpa has a variety of high-quality medical-grade peels to address a range of skin problems. Peels can also be integrated with other cosmetic processes as part of an overall Skin Rejuvenation program.

Conditions that chemical peels can help

  • Skin aging, wrinkles, and lines around mouth
  • Scars
  • Discolored skin on the face
  • Uneven skin tone, rough patches
  • Dull skin
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Acne scars

Candidate for chemical peel

Any of the above issues would make you a great candidate for a chemical peel. Note: You would not be a candidate when you have a current infection, cut or broken skin, a sunburn, active herpes, or have used Accutane in the last 6 months.

What to expect?

The peel may feel slightly prickly and the skin warm once activated. Some mild discomfort may be felt with stronger peels. The skin may initially feel tight. Skin may start peeling/flaking on day 2 and continue for 7 days, based on the peel strength. Lighter peels may cause slight or no peeling/flaking.

Are chemical peels safe?

Yes. As part of our commitment at Afsa MedSpa to safety and quality, your Medical Skin Therapist is always with you during the treatment and can deactivate the peel at any time.

Preparation

Though some peels need no preparation, some need you to prepare your skin with specialized products for 10-30 days prior to treatment. If recommended by your Medical Skin Therapist, for dark spots and hyperpigmentation the use of a fading gel for 2 weeks prior to the peel may be required. Glycolic acid and retinol serums may be advised in preparation of the professional peel to address your specific requirements as part of an overall program of skincare.

Avoid:

  • Other chemical peels within 2 weeks of your scheduled peel
  • Microdermabrasion treatment within 2 weeks of your scheduled peel
  • Sun exposure and tanning booths for 2-3 weeks before your scheduled peel
  • Collagen and Botox injections for at least 1 week before your scheduled peel
  • Waxing your skin for at least 1 week before your scheduled peel

Utilizing hair removal treatments for at least 1 week before your scheduled peel
It is imperative to inform your skin therapist of any medications you are currently taking before your peel treatment.
Treatment time and Frequency

30-60 minutes, depending on the peel type. The frequency of peels will depend on your current skin condition and health, your skin therapist will tailor a course of treatments to address your unique skin needs.

Treatments to combine with a chemical peel

  • Dermaplaning: to prepare the skin for the peel and enhance results
  • Celluma light therapy: to stimulate recovery and help accelerate healing, for improved skin quality.
  • Microneedling

Aftercare

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, using warm or cold water, after 12 to 24 hours. When washing, use your fingertips and do not rub, scratch, or try to peel your skin. Use the ointment suggested by your skin therapist and apply a moisturizer and S.P.F. sunscreen to the face.

Once your skin begins to peel, use a soft cloth to exfoliate the dead skin gently. Depending on your peel, your skin will seem red for 7-10 days.

Note: It is essential to keep the skin well hydrated and moisturized during the post-peel home care phase to achieve optimum results.

Use gentle cleanser, the appropriate moisturizer and sunscreen for your skin type and condition.

Avoid stress from sun exposure and excessive exercise.

The type of peel will determine the recuperation time.

Results

Results depend on which peel was used (ranging from very gentle to medium strength). Lighter peels leave your skin glowing while medium-strength peels may result in some slight swelling, mild flaking/peeling, and pink-looking skin. Most people observe a continual and gradual enhancement following their first treatment.

The treatment

Dermaplaning exfoliates the skin to remove dead cells and vellus hair (“peach fuzz”), using a dermatome, which resembles an electric razor. This exfoliation and hair removal can leave your skin smoother and brighter.

Treatments to combine with dermaplaning

OxyGeneo Facials, immediately after treatment, for maximum active ingredient penetration, and skin hydration
Celluma Light Therapy, to promote youthful skin glow
Microcurrent, to tone facial muscles and increase cellular energy
Microneedling, to regenerate elastin fibers and collagen, for a youthful skin
Medical Grade Skincare, for improving and maintaining results

What to expect

The skin is cleaned. Your skin therapist then moves a dermatome back and forth gently across your skin at an angle of 45 degrees removing hair and dead skin. Post treatment, serums and sunscreen will be used for hydrating and improving texture.

Treatment time

30-45 minutes. Treatment is recommended every 4 weeks.

Aftercare

After the treatment, you may directly return to your normal skincare program, note, you will probably be a little more sensitive to the products you use as their penetration will be much faster.

Is Dermaplaning safe?

Yes. As an advanced method, it must be conducted by an experienced skin therapist.

Does Dermaplaning hurt?

No. Your skin may have some redness after treatment, which should calm down after 2 to 4 hours.

Results are seen immediately.

The treatment

Four technologies which target the skin and muscles make up the Divine Pyramid FaceliftTM  system, which volumizes, lifts and resurfaces.

4 best-in-class proven technologies
combine to revitalize skin appearance.

Trifractional is a radio frequency (RF) technology for skin resurfacing. It initiates increased production of collagen and elastin, regeneration of healthy epidermis and smoother, tighter skin texture. Ideal treatment for acne scars, fine lines and stretch marks. Painless treatment. Minimal downtime, topical anaesthetic not required.

Before and after

Before and after

VoluDerm uses the thinnest RF microneedles in the market in combination with an advanced delivery system designed to volumize while reducing wrinkles and scars and resurface the skin. The treatment initiates the natural healing process which boosts collagen and elastin, resulting in long-term volumizing of the skin. Minimal downtime and discomfort, topical anaesthetic not required.

TriPollar rejuvenates and treats wrinkles and fine lines around lips and eyes. Results from even the first treatment are immediate with long lasting skin tightening. Advanced non-invasive Radio frequency energy heats the deep dermis, yet the epidermis remains unharmed. The heat stimulates collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production by fibroblasts.

DMA (Dynamic Muscle Activation) improves tone of the muscles along the jawline and increases skin tightening. This non-invasive muscle lifting and skin tightening treatment promotes firmer skin and lifted jawline. Each client’s treatment can be customized according to their needs.

The treatment

Afsa MedSpa uses non-invasive needle-less mesotherapy or Microneedling to bio-revitalize your skin. Electroporation devices create micro channels in the skin to introduce rejuvenating products such as serums rich in antioxidants, vitamins and hyaluronic acid into the skin’s deeper layers. The process enhances the skin’s superficial appearance, texture, and elasticity; restores skin tone; and achieves well-balanced hydration in the skin. Microneedling is an innovative treatment that combines the benefits of meso serums with Microneedling treatment to deeply infuse specialized formulations into the skin for improved results.

One of our most popular mesotherapy treatments is Skin-boosters (normally 3 sessions every 30 days and a single maintenance session every 6 months): stabilized hyaluronic acid is delivered to the deeper layer of your skin, offering long-lasting enhancement of skin elasticity, tone, turgor, which leaves skin toned and glowing. Commonly treated areas are the back of the hand, face, and décolletage. Hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases as we age. Replacing hyaluronic acid stimulates the formation of new collagen, modulates the general functioning of skin, and remakes skin structure. It keeps hydration balanced while preventing and reducing the creation of wrinkles and lines and improving elasticity and firmness.

Conditions that mesotherapy can help

  • Fatigued skin seeking enhanced tone and visual appearance
  • Light to moderate signs of photo aging/sun damage (especially back of the hands and décolletage)
  • Sagging skin
  • Thin skin
  • Scarring
  • Aging
  • Pigmentation
  • Stretch marks
  • Perioral lines
  • Dull skin

Treatments to combine mesotherapy with

It can also be integrated with treatments like dermaplaning, radiofrequency, microdermabrasion as well as LED treatments. At Afsa MedSpa, we believe that the use of Skin boosters and Mesotherapy is a great adjunct to any skin rejuvenating program.

What to expect

A detailed evaluation of your skin is performed in the considered area. The skin is cleaned and disinfected. To help decrease any discomfort with Microneedling, a topical local anesthetic cream is applied (no anesthetic is required for needle-less mesotherapy).

Treatment time

About 60 minutes. Treatment sessions are determined by skin therapist, taking into account the client’s concerns and needs. Normally, 3-6 treatments are performed within a 2-4 week interval, with maintenance once every 6 months.

Side effects

During and after Microneedling, there can be some discomfort. Side effects are few allergic reactions are rare.

Down time

None to 1 day maximum.

Results

Plumpness, clearer and more toned, hydrated skin are the affects you will notice immediately. After four to six months, you will see the full benefit of improved skin tone and elasticity, improved and prolonged hydration, decreased appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and improvement in the appearance of sun damaged skin.

The treatment

Microcurrent facial is a non-invasive therapy for stimulating, and toning facial muscles and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. It improves collagen, elastin, and blood circulation. Microcurrent is also termed “muscle re-education,” because it tightens some muscles for great contouring and relaxes some other muscles to erase fine wrinkles.

Conditions that microcurrent helps

  • Loss of facial muscle tone
  • Wrinkles and fine lines

What to expect

The microcurrent is very gentle with no visible muscle contraction.

Treatment time

The treatments must be administered with a primary series of 10 to 12 sessions, then less frequently to maintain the results.

The treatment

Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries to stimulate the natural wound-healing process of the skin and minimize cellular damage. It leads to the operative remodeling of scar tissue and enhanced production of collagen, while maintaining intact the skin’s overall structure.

Conditions that Microneedling can help

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Lax skin
  • Large pores
  • Scars
  • Hyper pigmentation

Candidates for Microneedling

Since no heat is used, Microneedling can be performed on any skin type and color.

What to expect

The skin is cleaned and to ensure comfort, the skin is numbed, resulting in a pain-free treatment. Gliding the Microneedling tip over your skin creates stimulating channels. Even flushing of the skin will indicate an ideal treatment.

Treatment time

A 90 min treatment produces visible results. Results are improved after subsequent treatments:

Collagen and Skin Rejuvenation: 4-6 treatments, 2-4 weeks apart
Scars and Acne Scar Reduction: 6+ treatments, 4 weeks apart
After care

For the first 5 hours, use only hyaluronic acid to hydrate your skin (it will become very dry) and decrease visible redness. After 5 hours, use only water for cleaning, and hyaluronic acid for moisturizing. Wash your face with a very gentle cleanser the day after the treatment and protect your skin with mineral sun block.

Down time

2-3 days (versus ablative lasers which can take 2-3 weeks).

Results

Results are not instant. Collagen growth will be visible in about 6 weeks. Continued skin enhancement occurs over 6-12 months.

The treatment

OxyGeneo is powered by three technologies:

  • OXYGeneo™, a 3-in-1 treatment that uses the body’s own processes to deliver oxygen to a treatment area (the Bohr effect) in order to enrich the skin with oxygen. At the same time, it gently exfoliates dead skin and infuses active ingredients to maximize the effect.
  • TriPollar® RF (optional) radio frequency treatment for reducing wrinkles and tightening skin.
  • Ultrasound (optional) for increasing skin permeability to optimize infusion of product deeper into the skin.

Results

As a result the skin is smoother, brighter with a healthy glow.

Before and After

OxyGeneo Body Treatments

OxyGeneo can also be used to promote healthy and smooth skin on parts of the body beyond the decollete, face and neck, such as:

  • Back acne, pimples on the body.
  • Pigmentation on the body.
  • Irritated and dry skin on the body.

The treatment

A local anesthetic cream is applied on the skin before the skin tag removal (not needed with small tags). Skin tags can be removed two ways:

• Snip excision. The skin tag is snipped off and the area is then cauterized.

• Electrosurgery. The skin tag is burnt off locally by low frequency, high voltage device with a very fine tip.

Aftercare

After removal, the area is covered with Vaseline (may be reapplied four times a day). A splash-proof dressing is applied only if the area is susceptible to rubbing or chaffing. Keep treated areas dry and clean, though you can wash them once or twice a day with water and a cotton pad.

Down time

If you have an office job, you can return to it straight away, but do avoid heavy exercise or anything strenuous.

Results

A small scab will develop after 5 days. Normally, small lesions heal without a trace while larger lesions may heal with a slight scar, which may be very slightly paler. Although skin tags can be removed in any size, it is best to treat them when small since the healing is quicker and simpler. Skin tags do not recur once they have been treated.
