Preparation, Recovery & Follow-Up
We explain how to prepare, care for your skin afterward, and when to reassess your response. Your treatment plan and follow-up reflect your individual needs.
Understanding Your Treatment
VoluDerm™ combines ultra-thin, needle-like electrodes with radiofrequency energy to create tiny channels and deliver heat beneath the skin. This process is intended to support collagen remodeling over time. Your clinician tailors treatment to your skin, concerns, and treatment area; results and recovery vary.
Ultra-thin, needle-like electrodes use RF-assisted penetration to create small channels in the treatment area.
The electrode tips deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin, generating localized heat in the treated tissue.
The tissue response is intended to support collagen remodeling. Changes develop gradually, and the degree of improvement varies from person to person.
Your clinician assesses your skin and treatment area to select settings, explain potential risks, and give you tailored aftercare instructions.

Skin Concerns
RF microneedling combines ultra-thin electrodes with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen remodeling and improve skin texture, firmness, and the appearance of fine lines. At Parsa Wellness, we use VoluDerm™ fractional RF technology to provide personalized skin rejuvenation treatments based on your concerns and skin condition.
Improve the appearance of certain depressed acne scars and uneven skin texture. VoluDerm™ supports collagen remodeling, helping skin appear smoother and more refined over a series of treatments.
Refine the appearance of enlarged pores and rough, uneven skin texture. RF microneedling supports skin renewal and collagen production for a smoother-looking complexion.
Address early signs of skin laxity, including mild sagging along the jawline and crepey neck skin. RF energy encourages collagen remodeling to help improve skin firmness and the appearance of fine lines.
Target visible signs of aging, including fine lines around the mouth and selected areas near the eyes. Treatment suitability depends on the skin's condition and the safety of the proposed treatment area.
Improve the appearance of delicate, crepey skin and fine lines across the décolletage. RF microneedling may help support smoother-looking skin and improved texture in appropriately selected patients.
Address visible skin aging, including fine lines and crepey texture on the backs of the hands. Treatment may help improve skin smoothness where appropriate, following an individual assessment.
Not every treatment area is suitable for every patient. Your provider will evaluate your skin, discuss potential risks, and recommend an appropriate treatment plan. Results vary, and multiple sessions may be needed.
Treatment Comparison
Both treatments support skin renewal, but they work differently. At Parsa Wellness, we use VoluDerm™ RF technology, which combines ultra-thin electrodes with radiofrequency energy to support collagen remodeling and improve skin texture.
| Comparison | RF Microneedling (VoluDerm™) | Traditional Microneedling |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Ultra-thin electrodes with RF-assisted penetration and controlled heating. | Fine needles mechanically create microchannels in the skin. |
| Collagen Stimulation | Combines RF-generated heat and the skin's natural healing response to support collagen remodeling. | Stimulates collagen production through the skin's natural repair process. |
| Skin Tightening | May improve mild skin laxity and firmness through controlled dermal heating. | Primarily improves texture and fine lines, with less emphasis on tightening. |
| Acne Scars & Texture | May improve uneven texture and certain acne scars through RF-assisted skin remodeling. | May improve acne scars, enlarged-looking pores, and uneven texture. |
| Fine Lines & Wrinkles | Targets fine lines and wrinkles through RF energy and collagen remodeling. | Helps soften fine lines through mechanical collagen induction. |
| Comfort | VoluDerm's RF-assisted ultra-thin electrodes are designed to reduce discomfort. | May cause scratching or prickling sensations, depending on needle depth. |
| Downtime | Often mild redness or sensitivity; recovery varies by treatment intensity. | Redness, sensitivity, and sometimes pinpoint bleeding; recovery varies by depth. |
| Treatment Sessions | A series of treatments may be recommended based on skin concerns and response. | Multiple sessions are commonly recommended for gradual improvements. |
| Safety Considerations | Requires careful RF settings. With certain uses of RF microneedling devices, serious complications have been reported, including burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement, and nerve damage. | Risks include infection, scarring, bleeding, and pigment changes. |
The Treatment Journey · What to Expect
Your visit follows four clear steps, from assessing your skin and goals to reviewing how to care for it afterward.
We discuss your skin concerns, health history, and goals. Your provider assesses whether RF microneedling is suitable and recommends a treatment plan for you.
Your skin is cleansed and prepared. Topical numbing may be used when appropriate, and your provider explains what you may feel during treatment.
The VoluDerm™ handpiece uses ultra-thin, needle-like tips to create microchannels and deliver RF heat into the skin. You may feel warmth or prickling; sensation varies.
Your provider checks the treated skin and reviews cleansing, skincare, and sun protection instructions. Temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity may occur.
Collagen remodeling takes time, and visible results vary by person and treatment plan. Some concerns may need a series of sessions; your provider will discuss when to reassess your results.
Preparation & Aftercare
These general tips can help you prepare and care for your skin. Your provider will give you instructions tailored to your treatment.
Tell your provider about retinoids, exfoliating acids, and other products you use. They will advise if and when to pause them before treatment.
Avoid tanning and let us know if the treatment area is sunburned or irritated before your appointment.
If possible, arrive without makeup or heavy skincare on the treatment area. Your provider will cleanse the skin before treatment.
Follow your provider’s instructions for cleansing and moisturizing. Ask when to restart makeup, retinoids, and exfoliating products.
Ask your provider when you can resume strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and swimming. Avoid rubbing or picking at the treated skin.
Limit sun exposure and follow your provider’s advice on when to apply sunscreen to sensitive skin. Continue daily sun protection as it recovers.

Common Inquiries
Everything you need to know about comfort, recovery, skin tone suitability, and combining RF microneedling with other medical facial treatments.
Traditional microneedling uses mechanically inserted needles to create tiny punctures. RF microneedling also delivers heat beneath the skin. Our VoluDerm™ system creates its microchannels with RF-assisted, needle-like tips.
Sensation varies, but patients often describe a prickly warmth. The VoluDerm™ system uses ultra-thin, needle-like tips with radiofrequency energy. Topical numbing cream is available to support comfort during treatment.
Redness, swelling, warmth, sensitivity, or other skin reactions may occur after treatment. Recovery varies based on the person and treatment plan. Your provider will explain what to expect and review aftercare before your session.
Many patients benefit from a series of RF microneedling treatments, although the recommended number depends on their skin concerns and goals. A typical treatment plan may involve 3 to 4 sessions spaced several weeks apart. Improvements in skin texture and firmness develop gradually as collagen remodeling occurs. Your provider will recommend an appropriate schedule during your consultation.
Suitability depends on your skin, health history, treatment area, and the device settings used. RF microneedling can cause pigment changes in some people, so your provider should review the potential benefits and risks with you before treatment and confirm whether it is appropriate for your skin. Parsa Wellness uses the VoluDerm™ system.
RF microneedling may not be suitable for everyone. Treatment may need to be postponed over an active skin infection, open wound, or significant irritation in the treatment area. Some medical conditions, medicines, or recent procedures may also affect suitability and healing. Tell your provider about your health history and current medicines so they can assess the area and discuss risks and alternatives. Serious complications have been reported with certain uses of RF microneedling devices, including burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement, and nerve damage. Treatment should be performed by a provider trained and experienced with the device.
RF microneedling can be included in a treatment plan with other services when clinically appropriate. VoluDerm™ is one component of our Divine Pyramid Facelift, alongside TriPollar® RF dermal heating, Dynamic Muscle Activation (DMA), and TriFractional resurfacing. Your provider can discuss whether a combination approach suits your goals.
