Yes. A medical referral from a family physician, walk-in clinic physician, or nurse practitioner is required to arrange a chronic pain management consultation with Dr. Soltani through our referral pathway. Following referral review, our clinic will contact you regarding the next steps.
Our clinic assesses a wide spectrum of persistent pain conditions, including back and neck pain, sciatica, chronic migraines, peripheral joint and arthritic pain, localized nerve irritation, and muscle-related myofascial pain.
Trigger point injections involve administering a small amount of local anesthetic (with or without other medications) directly into irritable, taut bands of muscle. The goal is to help relax the muscle, relieve local tenderness, and support physical rehabilitation.
Ultrasound-guided nerve blocks are procedures where real-time sonography is used to locate targeted peripheral nerves. A local anesthetic solution is placed near the nerve to temporarily interrupt pain signals, helping both to identify pain generators and provide therapeutic relief.
Patients may experience a brief pinch, pressure, or temporary discomfort during an injection. Depending on the procedure, local anesthetic and ultrasound guidance may be used to support patient comfort and accurate needle placement. Dr. Soltani will explain what to expect before treatment.
Bring your BC Services Card, an updated list of all medications and supplements, and copies of any relevant diagnostic imaging reports. Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows easy examination of the affected body area.
Follow the instructions Dr. Soltani and the clinical team provide for your specific procedure. Do not drive if you received sedation or if numbness, weakness, dizziness, or other effects could affect your ability to drive safely. After a nerve block, avoid driving until normal sensation and movement have returned. Ask the team in advance if you are unsure whether you will need a ride.
Many extended health insurance plans provide benefits for services such as chiropractic care, acupuncture, and clinical counselling. Osteopathy coverage varies by insurer and practitioner eligibility. Patients should confirm their individual benefits before booking. Direct billing may be available for eligible plans.
They may be used together when appropriate. Whether supportive allied health services are recommended alongside physician-led care depends on your clinical assessment, treatment goals, and response to care. Dr. Soltani can discuss suitable options with you.
